Always Be A Part Of Me

Always Be A Part Of Me
00:00 / 04:01

This song was written in 2005.  Our older son Kele was about to graduate high school and go to Honolulu to pilot school.  Our younger son Jake had been accepted the year before as a boarder at Kamehameha Schools in Honolulu.  The idea that both boys would no longer be  living at home hit me hard.  I had not expected to loose both of them so soon.  I wrote this song to deal with my separation anxiety. Both boys flourished and became outstanding young men that I am so proud of .

Was not long ago I held you so close

As we walked in the warmth of the sun

We talked of those things we felt destined to do

Singing and laughing and carrying on.

So why does the sun go on shinning

Why to the birds still sing

How can the world keep moving along

As if its not lost a thing.

I sit here alone with a hole in my heart

Wondering how I’ll go on

How can a man face the darkness alone

Dreading the fear of being apart.

So why does the sun go on shinning

Why to the birds still sing

How can the world keep moving along

As if its not lost a thing.

All of a sudden I feel your warm touch

Turning   I look toward the sun

I hear the sound of your voice in the wind

Turning around I see birds flying on.

Now I know why the sun keeps on shining

Yes I know why the birds still sing

Cause you’re here with me

Helping me see that you’ll always be a part of me

There comes a time when we all must move on

Taking a path that’s our own

While parting can bring pain to the heart

The love that we share will carry us on

Yes  I know why the sun keeps on shining

Yes I know why the birds still sing

Cause you’re here with me

Helping me see that you’ll always be a part of me

As you take flight on that course of your own

Heading out towards the dawn

You have great things to do, so much to get done

The love that we share will carry you on

Yes  I know why the sun keeps on shining

Yes I know why the birds still sing

Cause you’re here with me

Helping me see that you’ll always be a part of me
